Cash for Brass Program

The Cary Brass Guy (TCBG) operates a Cash for Brass program where we buy used range brass from shooting ranges and individual shooters. This program supports recycling, helps reduce ammunition costs, and keeps valuable materials in circulation rather than going to waste.

As a local, family-owned business, we appreciate every customer who chooses to work with us and keep their business local.

Current Buy Prices

Pricing reflects the brass market and may change at any time.

Usable Brass

  • Currently $2.00 per pound
  • Brass suitable for processing and reuse

Scrap Brass

  • Currently $1.00 – $1.50 per pound
  • Includes:
    • .22 LR and similar rimfire cases
    • Brass that is severely tarnished, damaged, or otherwise not reloadable

Final pricing depends on condition and current market value.

No Sorting or Cleaning Required

You do not need to sort or clean your brass before bringing it in.

  • We do not pay more for cleaned or pre-sorted brass
  • Mixed brass is perfectly acceptable

This keeps the process simple and saves you time.

Live Ammunition Policy

  • Live ammunition is accepted
  • We do not pay for live ammo

Live rounds must be handled and disposed of properly, which involves cost and effort on our end and provides no resale value. For that reason, live ammo is accepted as a courtesy but is not included in paid weight.

Materials We Do Not Accept

  • No aluminum
  • No steel cases

Please remove these before arrival to avoid delays.

How to Bring Your Brass

While plastic shopping bags are common, they tend to tear and spill under weight.

We strongly prefer:

  • Plastic buckets (5-gallon buckets work best)

Buckets are safer, easier to handle, and faster for weighing and processing.

Where & When to Bring Brass

We currently accept brass in person only:

  • Gun shows we attend
  • Our shop location:
    7424 ACC Blvd, Suite 105
    Raleigh, NC 27617

Shop Intake Hours
Monday – Thursday: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
All other times: Appointment only

Large Quantities (20+ Pounds)

If you plan to bring more than 20 pounds of brass, please call or text ahead so we can ensure sufficient cash is available:

  • 984-444-3006
  • 984-208-6171

This helps keep transactions fast and smooth.

Why Sell Your Brass to TCBG?

Recycling brass has real benefits:

  • Brass can be reused multiple times
  • Reduces demand for newly mined materials
  • Helps keep ammunition costs down
  • Keeps usable material out of landfills

By selling your brass to a local, family-run shop, you’re supporting small business, responsible recycling, and the long-term sustainability of the shooting sports community.
